The sun was beaming while the air was frosty and bitter, a toddler ran through the Autumn leaves, “Look mum, I’ve found a yellow one now!” “Wow!” I replied, “Lets see if we can find more!” We shuffled through the piles of leaves admiring their beautiful Autumn colours, Oranges, Yellows, and Burnt Reds. Alexandra was amazed.
That’s right, Autumn is here, possibly one of the most beautiful times of the year in my opinion. It might be cold, but with all the Autumn activities we can get up to the cold is easily forgotten.
Yesterday we wrapped up warm, hats on, gloves on and our big boots, we ventured out around my area and collected various shapes, sizes and colours for leaves for a little fun idea I had. I told Alexandra about how the leaves fall off of the trees to get ready for winter and how animals begin hibernation.
Someone found mud!
More mud!!
A very muddy dog to match a very muddy toddler. I was cursing myself for buying a white couch at this point.
And when we got back in our garden, we was greeted with a present from the work men, a lovely HUGE muddy puddle, great!
So, after splashing in muddy puddles, collecting leaves and letting both the dog and Lexi run riot around the fields, we eventually came home and got arty.
(but we did give the dog a bath first hehe)
First we dried out the leaves and then began painting them with PVA, we stuck them onto a big piece of paper in nice patterns and let them dry out. (it took a little longer because my little monster spilt water every frigging were.)
Once the leaves where stuck, out came the paint!
Alexandra LOVED it, we had tons of fun.
We finished!
And there you have it, how to have fun with nature.
I think we’re going to do this a lot more often. I can teach Alexandra about nature and birds and animals while also collecting things to take home to have even more fun with.
